Disneyland Launches Marvel Themed $100 Sandwich

Disneyland Launches Marvel Themed $100 Sandwich

An issue most of us will be familiar with when visiting theme parks is that once you’re inside, you are stuck with the prices they charge for food and drink. But you’ll never complain about paying £2 for a bag of crisps again after seeing the new sandwich being introduced at Disneyland in California.

The Sun reports that Disneyland’s new sandwich billed as being fit for a superhero will set you back $99.99, or about £70. The sandwich, which will appear on menus on 4 June has been described as ‘one of the most expensive sandwiches in the world’, and to its credit, is as far removed from a pre-packaged supermarket ham sandwich as you can imagine.

The sandwich consists of salami, rosemary ham, provolone cheese, sun-dried tomato spread on toasted focaccia with marinara dipping sauce and arugula salad on the side and the sandwich is supersized, as Disney say it is meant to be shared between six to eight people.

Thankfully, for those who don’t like to share, there is a regular-sized version for $14.50, which is still rather pricey for a sandwich!

It is being served at the California theme park’s new ‘Avengers campus’, where much of the food is themed around the Ant-Man films starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.

The ‘Quantum-sized Pym-ini’ sandwich will retail at the Pym Test Kitchen, which takes its name from the ‘Pym particles’ used for the size-altering physics referenced in the Ant-Man movies.

Here, you’ll find dishes that have fun with proportions, such as the ‘Caesar Salad and Colossal Crouton’, a salad that comes with just one giant crouton, and the ‘Impossible Spoonful’ – a huge meatball on a supersized metal spoon.

However, the one-hundred-dollar sandwich is not the most expensive in the world. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the most expensive sandwich available commercially is the ‘Quintessential Grilled Cheese’ which sells for $214 at Serendipity 3 in New York.

This pricey sarnie is served on two pieces of French Pullman champagne bread which is made with Dom Perignon champagne and edible gold flakes, with white truffle butter and the very rare Caciocavallo Podolico cheese, and served with South African Lobster Tomato Bisque as a dipping sauce.

If you’re looking for speciality bread suppliers (maybe not of the gold flake variety), then get in touch today.
